21st Century Trojan Chess Table & Set in Black

TROJAN, a coffee table at first sight, is hiding space that holds similar amount of fighters as a legendary Trojan horse. 32 chess pieces made by TOWARNA, are cast from concrete, one of first composite materials, used already in ancient Rome. Chess, which evolved from the Persian chess-like game Shatranj, purportedly developed from the first known variant – an Indian game of Chaturanga, are the best gymnastics for our brains.

We’ve broadened our family of Trojan chess tables with a richly dark variant. The hue is achieved through a chemical reaction, so it doesn’t rely on using a color pigment that might fade over time. Both the chessboard and the opposite side of the tabletop are adorned with ziricote wood veneer.
Surface finish: polyurethane varnish

Chessboard is made of 68 hand-folded parts of a special wood veneer with an unusual wood texture that can be seen for example in interiors of luxury cars.
The double-sided table top can turn a chess table into a coffee or storage table. The appearance of the board can be designed individually.
Under the table top is a “box of chocolates” with beds for sleeping warriors.
The chess pieces designed by us were meticulously manufactured and supplied by TOWARNA.
