Vintage Design
Great set of two teak veneered wood and metal nightstands by Auping, 1963. The fine teak material makes a warm complement to the dark grey ( indoor looking black ) metal frames, which evokes a floating, light appearance. The double drawers with the black handles offer a lot of storage space. This model is called Carrelle and is pictured and documented in ‘Goed Wonen Magazine’ of early sixties.
During the sixties, many European furniture companies started to produce teak furniture in the modernist Scandinavian /Danish style. Dutch company Auping worked with a number of famous designers such as Wim Rietveld, Andre Cordemeyer, and Friso Kramer. The style is clearly influenced by the designs of Cees Braakman and Pastoe, in particular the Japanese series.
Great condition, nice opportunity, hard to find as a set.
