Vintage Design
Iconic set consisting of a sofa and club chair designed in 1910 by Josef Hoffmann for the Buenos Aires exhibition. This was organized to celebrate Argentina’s independence. Since 1960, this model has been produced by the Austrian manufacturer Wittmann. The Kubus model is one of the most well-known creations of the Austrian designer and architect. His work was created around the turn of the 20th century, at a crucial juncture between two significant aesthetic movements. Two artistic movements that had an impact on the production of architectural and design work were the art nouveau, which was exhibited by floral decoration and an abundance of lines, and the modernism, which abruptly broke with the earlier movements and proclaimed the need for simpler lines and valuable objects. And Hoffmann used his cube chair to approach the modernism tenets.
These examples hailed from the late seventies and are made of very soft brown aniline leather with black legs and gray feet. They are not marked with a label. On the feet, we only see light superficial scratches up close. The set is otherwise in excellent condition.
